Winning WAFCON 2024 Will Define Success For Black Queens – Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah

The 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is currently underway, and according to Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, winning the tournament would be the only way to call their campaign successful.

After beating Tanzania 4-1 in Monday’s Group C match, Ghana advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time in nine years.

According to the midfielder, who spoke to Joy Sports, the Black Queens have proven themselves worthy of respect on the African continent.

“This tournament will only be successful for me when we take the trophy,” she said. “I think we deserve it. I think we deserve the respect from African football.

“I want to give this continent so much respect, but I also want to gain it. The only way you gain it is by performing, by showing who we are.

“So a successful tournament for me is taking home the only thing that you can take home the trophy,” he added.

On Saturday, July 19, Ghana will play Algeria at the Berkane Stadium in their next match, with a chance to go to the semifinals.
