Lynx Entertainment CEO, Richie Mensah, has dismissed rumors of a supposed “Lynx curse” that allegedly hinders the success of artistes who leave the record label.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, Mensah attributed the perceived decline in artistes’ careers to the challenges of navigating the music industry independently.
According to Richie, “the music business is tough. When an artiste leaves our setup and goes solo, it’s difficult. It’s not a curse; it’s just the reality of the industry.”
Richie emphasized that Lynx Entertainment’s success is a result of a collaborative effort from its 60 employees, who work diligently on various aspects of an artiste’s project.
He explained that when artists leave the label, they often lack the resources to replicate this level of support, leading to a noticeable decline in output.
“We have a team handling creativity, PR, visuals, and more. When an artist leaves, they can’t afford to hire a team of that size, so the input and output naturally decrease,” Richie clarified.
Richie also cautioned against measuring success solely by numbers. He stated that one should sometimes measure the success of musicians’ enterprises by their efforts and their profit margins.
