The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus in Parliament has formally requested an emergency recall of Parliament following the indefinite adjournment announced by Speaker Alban Bagbin on Tuesday.
In a letter directed to the Speaker, the NPP Caucus emphasised the necessity of addressing several pressing government matters that require urgent attention.
They underscored the urgency of deliberating on issues such as tax exemptions for companies participating in the One District One Factory Programme, pending bills, and the financial stability fund.

The Caucus referenced constitutional provisions and Parliament’s standing orders, asserting that Speaker Bagbin is obligated to reconvene Parliament within seven days of receiving their letter.

“Considering the constitutional and statutory provisions cited above and in the exercise of our rights as Members of Parliament, we respectfully urge you to summon Parliament for a meeting within the stipulated seven-day period.
“We stand ready to provide any additional information or clarification that may be required and look forward to your favourable consideration of this request.”
