My Aim Is To Make Life Easier For Ghanaians If Elected As President- Bawumia

The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has outlined his vision to improve the lives of Ghanaians if elected in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking during his campaign tour in the Ho Municipality, he emphasised the importance of making essential services more accessible.

He stated that he has developed various policies and programs designed to make essential services more accessible to Ghanaians, similar to those in developed nations.

The Vice President also highlighted the government’s progress under President Akufo-Addo in digitizing Ghana’s economy, describing it as vital for 21st-century development.

A key initiative he proposes is the Credit Score System, which aims to enable Ghanaians to purchase goods and services on credit through systems like the Ghana Card and Mobile Money Interoperability.

He further stated that the introduction of the Ghana Card, Digital Property Address System, and Mobile Money Interoperability are key components to implementing the Credit Score System, which would allow Ghanaians to purchase products and access services on credit, and pay ”small, small, small.”

He announced that the groundwork for this credit score system has been completed and plans to launch it on November 7.

“For the last two years, we have been working on putting together the credit score system for Ghana. My thinking was that next year we will finish. But by the grace of God, I am happy to say we have completed the work for the credit system to start. It is possible.

“By the grace of God on the 7th of November I will launch Ghana’s credit scoring system”, he stressed.

Dr. Bawumia aims for Ghana to become the second African nation with an effective credit scoring system, which he believes will significantly impact the economy.

According to him, he also plans to harness solar energy to reduce electricity costs and create local jobs by establishing a factory for solar panel production.

He also proposed the Women Trade Empowerment Fund, designed to provide soft loans to female traders using only their Ghana Card as documentation.

“If you want to give them [female traders] loans and you ask them to go to the banks, they are going to be very intimidated because the banks are going to ask for a lot of documentation that they do not have. So, when it comes to informal women’s trading, we are rather setting up the Women Trade Empowerment Fund, the only requirement to obtain your loan will be your Ghana Card”, he said.

His agricultural policies include a District Agricultural Mechanisation System, providing local farmers with essential equipment and a comprehensive irrigation project to boost crop production.

He further reiterated his aims to empower local chiefs by amending the Chieftaincy Act to allow them to resolve community issues and has promised to pay living allowances to traditional leaders to enhance their livelihoods.

Dr. Bawumia urged the people of Ho Central to grant him the mandate to implement these transformative policies and elevate Ghana’s status to that of developed countries.
