Kwesi Appiah Hopes Ghana And Sudan Qualify For AFCON 2025

The senior national team coach of Sudan, James Appiah, says he hopes to see Ghana and his side qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morrocco.

Sudan, currently sitting second will lock horns with Ghana in a doubleheader in the qualifiers of the tournament.

The Black Stars will play at home on Thursday, October 11, before heading to Libya for the return match five days later.

Ahead of the fixture, Appiah is optimistic about securing a spot in the competition for his current team and wishes the same for his former employers.

“I hope both Ghana and Sudan qualify for the 2025 AFCON,” he told Asempa FM. “We just have to pray and hope that we all achieve our goal.”

Appiah, whose team remains unbeaten in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, states that his main objective is to bring the Falcons of Jediane to the global stage, even though the AFCON qualifiers are the immediate priority.

“My topmost priority is to qualify Sudan for the 2026 World Cup,” he added.

“Sudan have not been there before but I am hoping God uses me as a medium to achieve that.”

Sudan arrived in Ghana on Monday, October 7, to commence their preparations for the two games.
