Forgive Me For Backing Otto Addo- Agyemang-Badu

Former Ghanaian footballer, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, has publicly apologised for supporting the reappointment of Otto Addo as the Black Stars coach. In his apology, Agyemang-Badu acknowledged the challenges Otto Addo has faced since taking on the role.

The 33-year-old was among those who pushed for Addo’s return and supported him in performing well after Chris Hughton was dismissed.

However, seven months into his second stint, the former Borussia Dortmund coach has faced difficulties. Ghana is now at risk of missing out on next year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

This comes after Ghana managed only two points from four AFCON qualifying matches, leaving them third behind Angola and Sudan.

Following the Black Stars’ 2-0 loss to the Falcons of Jediane, Agyemang-Badu acknowledged the coach’s struggles.

“I apologise [as I was part] of those who advocated for the second coming of coach Otto Addo. If you go into my interviews, I gave him massive support but I’m sorry,” he told Onua TV.

“It seems the task is beyond him.”

Since the appointment in March, Addo has won just two games, losing three and drawing the other three.

The defeat to Sudan means the Black Stars must win their next two AFCON qualifying matches in November and hope that Sudan drops points in their games if they want to secure a spot in Morocco.
