Fatal East Legon Accident: Salifu Amoako Urges Public To End Speculations Over Son’s Involvement

Father of the 16-year-old boy who was involved in the East Legon accident that killed two young girls on Saturday, October 12, 2024, Bishop Salifu Amoako, has urged the public to halt discussions about the horrific incident.

The religious leader, while addressing his congregation at the Alive Chapel International, on Sunday, October 20, stressed that the accident was not an intentional act by his son, but rather an unfortunate event.

He called on the public to end all discussions and sensationalization of the accident.

He also could not hide his devastation and frustration regarding the issue and how the public is reacting to it. He comes to the son’s defense, stressing that he did not commit murder, but was involved in a sudden tragedy.

According to the bishop, the public should allow the law to take its course and refrain from premature judgments.

He said “It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor his mother. It is my name, that is why people are talking.

He also mentioned that the public outcry about the incident resulted from his status as a renowned man of God.

He bishop encouraged the public to stick to the facts and let the legal process take its course without unwarranted speculation.

He stressed that his son should be seen as just another person involved in an unfortunate accident, not judged based on his father’s position.

“If this was an Okada [motorcycle] accident, who would mention it? It is just because it is my name, so keep quiet and let’s see what the Lord will do.”
