Ghanaian singer and songwriter Twitch 4EVA has advised upcoming artists not to stay in Ghana but instead to save money for travels.
This could reflect a growing sentiment among some African creatives who feel limited by the local industry infrastructure, economic conditions, or lack of global exposure.
Even though his reasons for making this assertion remain quite unknown, fans who reacted to the post solidly agree with him.
In the post he wrote, “Dear upcoming Ghana Artists, Don’t Stay Just in Ghana. Save Money to Travel. I give you this Gist for Free”
However, his advice also comes off as controversial or discouraging to those building the Ghanaian music scene from within, according to some others.
Another section of people are of the strong opinion that not every artist can afford to travel, and there’s also value in strengthening the local ecosystem rather than exporting talent.
