It’s Irresponsible For Artistes To Smoke It Before Shows- Darkovibes Backtracks On Earlier ‘Weed’ Comment

Sensational Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Paul Nii Amu Andrew Darko, known in the music industry as Darkovibes, has stated that it’s irresponsible for artistes to carry marijuana or be high before going on stage.

In an exclusive interview with Pluzz FM’s Maame Esi Nyamekye, he clarified that his comments from a recent interview with media personality, Giovani Caleb, were taken out of context.

The “Inna Song” hitmaker, in a conversation with Giovani on 3FM Drive on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, explained that marijuana can help relax artistes’ minds, especially after long recording sessions or when preparing for lengthy concert performances.

He noted that, while he avoids carrying the substance in public, he willingly submits to searches by authorities, believing it is the right thing to do.

He, however, mentioned that he never made such comments, and had been taken out of context.

“He was asking me questions about we [artistes] doing songs about weed because my new song on Intercontinental, I did a song comparing weed to woman, and then he was asking me questions about it, and he was asking me that… so we smoke before we go for shows, and do we walk with the weed? I said I don’t do all of that. That’s irresponsible for you to do,’’ he stated.

Je M’appelle hit maker, Darkovibes.

“If you’re doing the thing and you know for a fact that it’s not right, and you’re doing it even though it’s right in some other places, and you’re trying to push [it] because it’s going to help revenue in your country doesn’t mean you have to be irresponsible about it, and walking around anyhow, and doing your things anyhow’’ he added.

Speaking about featuring Davido on his “Je M’appelle” project, Darkovibes highlighted that he has built strong relationships with many artistes, and that has greatly facilitated their collaboration.

Discussing his six-track “Intercontinental” EP, he revealed that his motivation is to promote Ghana to the world through an intercontinental approach. He hopes to proceed with this vision and deliver another exciting project to his fans.
