The second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit (ACS), organised by Ghana’s National Film Authority (NFA), begins today at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra.
With the theme: “Is Cinema Relevant in African Communities?”, the summit runs from October 7 to October 10, 2024.
Esteemed British actor and Chairman of the IE7&The Akuna Group, Idris Elba will lead this year’s summit, with Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, as the Guest of Honour on October 8.
Executives from throughout the African diaspora and reps from investment bodies including Afreximbank and IFC are set to participate in this year’s summit alongside representatives from African countries including Namibia, Nigeria, Morocco, Angola, and Rwanda.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NFA, Juliet Asante, at the launch of this year’s ACS earlier in June, stated that Africa’s cinematic prowess was undeniable, yet remained largely untapped.
As such, the summit aims to close this gap by promoting collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth within the African cinema industry.
