Ghanaian broadcaster Afia Pokua has announced that she will officially adopt the name Vim Lady due to derogatory remarks made by another media personality who shares her name.
This comes after public confusion and backlash that affected her and her family, as many mistakenly associated her with the controversial comments directed at Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Manhyia Palace.
According to Vim Lady, the issue affected her and her family, as many people mistakenly believed she was the one who made those remarks, leading to numerous insults and curses.
Vim Lady states that it took her years to build her brand and will not allow such issues to damage it, hence her decision to change her name for clearer identification moving forward.

“My mother was even nearly attacked by a group of older women who thought it was her daughter who said things about Manhyia. She called me, panicking.
“I really felt betrayed that after spending years branding the name Afia Pokua, I would be associated with something like this.
“ And because of this very issue, till now, whenever I post something on Facebook, people still insult me and add ‘This is how you landed before Manhyia and you are fooling again”, she added.
