The Parliament of Ghana has announced a new access directive requiring all visitors and stakeholders to enter the Parliament House exclusively through the Ceremonial Gate, located opposite the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The directive, which takes immediate effect, was issued under the authority of Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. It forms part of broader efforts to enhance security, streamline visitor management, and improve the overall functioning of parliamentary operations.
In a statement released by the Director of the Media Relations Department, David Sebastian Damoah, Parliament emphasized that all visitors will now be directed to the Parliament’s Visitor’s Centre upon arrival. There, individuals will undergo necessary procedures including identification, verification, and confirmation of their visit’s purpose.
Parliament is urging the general public and all stakeholders to comply fully with the new directive, describing it as a critical step towards ensuring the safety of lawmakers, staff, and visitors.
“This is part of ongoing reforms to strengthen access control and safeguard the integrity of the parliamentary precincts,” the statement added.
The new measure is expected to reduce congestion at other entry points and support the institution’s mission to maintain an orderly and secure environment within the legislative compound.
