Tensions Rise As Alan Kyerematen Challenges Kufuor’s Backing Of Dr. Bawumia

In a recent turn of events, Alan Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, has publicly criticized former President John Agyekum Kufuor for endorsing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the upcoming elections.

Kufuor’s endorsement, which he described as a call for Ghanaians to support Bawumia, has sparked significant backlash.

Kyerematen expressed his disappointment during an interview, stating that Kufuor’s actions undermine the impartiality expected from a statesman of his stature. He remarked, “Kufuor is my uncle, and I hesitate to publicly criticize him. However, his endorsement has cast a significant shadow over his political career.”

Kyerematen emphasized that such involvement in partisan politics could tarnish Kufuor’s long-standing reputation and respect among Ghanaians.

The former president had praised Bawumia’s economic capabilities, suggesting that his leadership could lead to substantial improvements in Ghana’s economy. However, Kyerematen countered this by highlighting the negative public reaction to Kufuor’s comments, urging him to reconsider his stance.

He warned that Kufuor is “venturing into dangerous territory” and that his endorsement could provoke further criticism.
