LeBron James And Son Make History As NBA’s First Father-Son Duo

The NBA witnessed a historic moment when LeBron James and his son Bronny James took the court together for the first time during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The occasion, which marked the first-ever father-son duo to play in an official NBA game, sent waves through the sold-out Crypto.com Arena, with fans erupting in applause as the two were introduced by head coach JJ Redick.

LeBron, 39, who is already cemented as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, expressed his desire to one day share the court with his son, a dream that became reality just four minutes before halftime.

The Lakers were comfortably leading 51-35 when Bronny, 20, joined his father on the court, a moment that marked not only a personal achievement for the James family but a significant milestone in sports history.

The pair had previously played together earlier this month during a pre-season matchup against the Phoenix Suns, but this official NBA game elevated the moment to new heights.

“I lost a lot of time because of this league so to be able to have this moment where I am working still and I can work alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever got from the man above and I’m going to take full advantage of it.”

For Bronny, a second-round pick in June from the University of Southern California, it was a humbling moment as he played three minutes in the first half, recording an offensive rebound but missing both of his field-goal attempts.

LeBron, entering his 22nd season in the NBA, added 16 points and three rebounds over 35 minutes of play, once again showcasing his ageless talent.

His partnership with Bronny is not only a rare moment of father-son collaboration in professional sports but a testament to the longevity and dedication LeBron has shown throughout his career.

The significance of the event drew other iconic father-son sports duos to courtside, including MLB legends Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., who had their own historic run with the Seattle Mariners in the early 1990s.
