Parliament has strongly denied allegations that Speaker Alban Bagbin met with President Akufo-Addo to negotiate a settlement concerning the status of four parliamentary seats declared vacant.
In a recent statement, parliamentary officials labeled the reports as “false” and “misleading,” calling on the public to disregard the claims.
The controversy arose after a video surfaced online, suggesting a recent meeting between the Speaker and the President.
The video gained attention following Bagbin’s October 17, 2024, pronouncement regarding the Minority’s demand to vacate four seats in Parliament.
The seats in question; Fomena, Amenfi Central, Suhum, and Agona West, have since been part of an ongoing legal dispute, with the Supreme Court temporarily staying the ruling.

Parliament has urged the public to disregard the false narrative and treat the viral video with the “contempt it deserves.”
