Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the convenor of the anti-galamsey protest, has been bail in the sum of ¢20,000 on Wednesday, October 16, after three unsuccessful attempts.
His previous bail applications were rejected by both the Accra High Court and the Circuit Court.
Mr. Barker-Vormawor was detained during a demonstration against illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, which has inflicted significant environmental harm in Ghana.
The protest, attended by several activists concerned about the destruction of natural resources, aimed to raise awareness and opposition to this practice.

According to police reports, Mr. Barker-Vormawor was arrested for participating in unlawful activities during the protest, although specific details regarding his alleged misconduct remain under investigation.
One incident that contributed to his arrest involved him taking the keys from a police van that was stationed at the protest site.
Despite these setbacks, the activist has remained steadfast in his opposition to galamsey, continuing to advocate for environmental reforms and increased accountability in the battle against illegal mining.
