Africa’s top YouTuber, Wodemaya, has sent his congratulations to Blakk Rasta, encouraging him to be the first to bring a Reggae Grammy album to Africa.
Wodemaya, known for traveling across Africa to share the continent’s positive stories, is a fan of Blakk Rasta’s Kuchoko innovation. This style blends traditional African instruments and sounds with Reggae music. The term “Kuchoko” is an onomatopoeia representing the distinct sound of the Reggae shuffle and organ.
In a Facebook post, Wodemaya stated, “BLAKK RASTA’S SALAGA SOLJAH album, the only AFRICAN Reggae album standing at the Grammys has received CRITICAL ACCLAIM from Jamaica’s DancehallMag – the BIGGEST Reggae /Dancehall blog in the world.
“This is a BIG one for Africa. Check out the album before you say a word. Long live Reggae Music. The big voice of LIBERATION!”

In another development, legendary Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall artist Anthony B has also expressed support for Blakk Rasta’s “Salaga Soljah” album, on which he is featured in the hit song “Barber Shop”.
Blakk Rasta’s “Salaga Soljah” is the only Reggae album among the 75 contenders for the award. Artists like Bob Marley, UB40, Vybz Kartel, Akae Beka, and Taj Weekes are also competing for this prestigious honor.
If successful, it would mark the first time an African album has won the Reggae Album of the Year category since the award’s inception.
The nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards will be revealed on November 8.
