Legon Cities have terminated their contract with head coach Yaw Acheampong as their struggle against relegation escalates in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Acheampong, who took over in January following the resignation of Paa Kwasi Fabin, failed to spark a turnaround for the struggling side.
His stint was marred by a series of poor results, including a recent 1-0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars.
The previous Aduana Stars coach was perceived as a liability by the club due to his earlier termination from Aduana inside the same season. Legon Cities anticipated that his experience would suffice to stabilise the situation.
With only five games left, the club has appointed Tijani Abdul Rahim, former assistant to Maxwell Konadu and ex-head coach of Young Apostles, to assume over and endeavour to secure their safety.
Legon Cities currently sit 17th on the league table with 25 points, desperately needing results to avoid the drop.
