Kofi Kinaata has shared his thoughts on losing out on the “Record of the Year” award at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
In an interview with Starr103.5FM, Kofi Kinaata said that many people on social media expected him to win that award with his song “Auntie Ama” over Ayisi’s “Can I Live.”
According to Kofi Kinaata, he initially thought he was the only one who felt that way about his loss, but the comments online and messages he received aligned with his.
“Everyone knew I was supposed to win Record of the Year. I didn’t take it to heart when I wasn’t announced the winner because my initial thought was that the board wanted to allow other musicians to win as well. They (organizers) know I am not loud, so I won’t do anything about it.” Kinaata said.
He stressed the fact that his songs “Auntie Ama” and “Saman” have the potential to win the “Traditional Song of the Year” if they were nominated.
Kofi Kinaata continued by stating that the instrumentation on “Saman” is unique and possesses a sound that has never been heard before.
