President Mahama Calls For National Unity At National Day Of Prayer And Thanksgiving

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a heartfelt appeal to Ghanaians to rise above tribal, religious, and political divides, warning that such divisions threaten Ghana’s stability and progress.

Delivering a powerful address at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving today at the forecourt of the State House for the Christian Session, the President urged citizens to embrace unity, compassion, and accountability in both public and private life.

“Let us remain vigilant against the voices of tribalism, the voices of religious extremism, and against political division. These are the seeds of discord we must never allow to take root in our precious nation,” President Mahama stated.

He encouraged Ghanaians to be deliberate in using words and actions that heal rather than harm. “We must speak a language of peace, compassion, and mutual respect. We must build bridges, not barriers for we are one people, sharing one land, pursuing one identity and destiny.”

In a moment of reflection on leadership, President Mahama stressed that public office is not a means for personal gain, but a sacred duty to serve the people with humility and integrity.

“We must hold those in authority, including myself, to the highest standards. Even the office of the President is not above the law,” he noted, reaffirming his commitment to transparency and justice.

President John Dramani Mahama declared Republic Day, July 1, as the official National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to enable Ghanaians to reflect and thank God for his goodness and mercies towards the nation, Ghana.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving today drew together religious leaders, politicians, and citizens from across the country in a united call for peace, accountability, and national renewal.
