Keche Joshua, a member of the Ghanaian music duo Keche, has boldly advocated for a greater emphasis on our sound as Ghanaians.
Speaking in a phone interview with PLUZZ NEWSBITS, the artiste noted that even though he recognizes the support, he thinks it’s high time this becomes an agenda.
He mentioned the likes of Sarkodie, Gyakie, Wendy Shay, Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, etc., who are making it big out there, and also asserted that we need to make it an agenda to give our music 95% focus.
Keche Joshua recounted a few encounters in the Accra club, where some Ghanaians pay DJs to request songs from outside Ghana to be played, a situation that deeply saddens him.
He went on to express his displeasure that songs from other countries are topping the charts in Ghana, attributing this issue to our music receiving less attention.
When he was asked his recommendations to tackle this challenge, Keche Joshua said that music is a universal language, hence there isn’t a barrier, and made reference to artists like Cabo Snoop, who made it big years ago.
