Three Times Ghanaian Artistes Won At The BET Awards

Ghanaian artistes have shown great improvements in their music journey and crafts, which has led to most of them topping charts, winning international awards and gaining for themselves international recognitions, among others over the years till date.

We will be focussing on three Ghanaian artistes who gained nominations in the American award show, Black Entertainment Television Network porpularly known as the BET Awards, which aims to celebrate Black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy.

In addition, artistes who get nominated at the BET Awards do not only mean they have been recognized by the organizers of the event but also put the artiste in a good position for more profitable collaborations and more.

Here are names of Ghanaian artistes who have gained nominations at the BET awards.

SARKODIE

Sarkodie, known to be the king of Ghana rap, was the first Ghanaian who was nominated in the Best International Act: Africa category in 2012 and also the first to win a BET award.

He won the Best International Act in the year 2012 and the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2019.

However, Sarkodie’s effort and achievement inspired other young artistes to put in more work, earning them more recognitions and nominations in other categories at the BET award over the years.

STONEBWOY

Ghanaian dancehall and reggae artiste, Stonebwoy was the second Ghanaian artiste who was nominated in the Best International Act category at the BET Awards.

Stonebwoy is not only the second artiste to be nominated but also the second Ghanaian artist to win the Best International Act: Africa category at the 2015 BET Awards.

BLACK SHERIF

Ghanaian music sensation, Black Sherif was recently nominated for the Best International Act: Africa category at the 2025 BET Awards.

Despite the fact that he did not win the award for that particular category, Black Sherif is still the second Ghanaian artiste who won the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2023.

This experience and achievements should not only serve as an example for other musicians but must encourage them to stay focused and stick to the game because hardwork pays off.
